Firewood is a seated VR experience and physical installation that was installed at the 2018 Gallatin Arts Festival and the 2018 TEDxFultonStreet.
A love letter is a romantic artifact which solves effortlessly the paradox of eternalizing ephemerality. Just as a love letter preserves sentiments felt in a singular moment, Firewood is an intimate installation that attempts to make eternal that which is short-lived. While sitting amidst a glowing LED fire and a canopy of fall leaves from Central Park, participants descend into a parallel virtual-reality landscape where they are encouraged to think about whom they have loved and how they’ve been changed by those loves. At the end, participants may write their own love letter and cast it into the fire, later to be burned or saved by the artist.
